The LFA Board of Directors are proud to be affiliated with the Lumberton North Carolina Recreation Department and the over 300 youth that participate in our program. As we begin our 9th year, we want to welcome Coach Joe Salas to Lumberton High School! Coach Salas and his Air Raid offense is sure to build on the foundation that Coach Mike Brill has built over the past six years. We also congratulate Coach Brill on his retirement! Coach Brill was a positive influence over a countless number of kids during his 30 years of coaching.
As you navigate through our site, be sure to take a look at our sponsors. Without these guys, we would not be where we are today. While browsing, you will be able to register for camps, our league and review the calendar of events for the upcoming year. There are many new events going on this year and below are just a few:
****UPDATED Golf Tournament Schedule****
The new Defensive Coordinator at Lumberton High School, Ron Cook is offering a great opportunity for one on one training. The DWC Training classes will be specific to defensive prospects from ages 8-14 years old. This learning opportunity has never been offered before and is a great way to prepare our young players to improve on and off the field. For more information, contact the Lumberton Recreation Department or coach Ron Cook @ 704-496-0107, rocook5@gmail.com. or Twitter:3Ddefense. The clinic is open to kids ages 8-14 years of age.
There is always a need for quality coaches in our league. We have three divisions within our system. The A League, which is our flag football program for 6 & 7 year old kids, the B League which serves as our introductory tackle league for 8 & 9 year old kids and our C league which is our advanced tackle league for 10, 11 and 12 year old kids. We all know that having the time to volunteer in anything is difficult, but the rewards and the lessons you can teach these kids will last a lifetime. Please contact us at the numbers below for more information.
As a part of the coaches certification this summer, the certified athletic trainers employed by Southeastern Health will discuss concussions and its symptoms. This will be in conjunction with Heads Up Tackling training during those sessions.
The LFA is 95% privately funded. The financial crisis of 2008 was a tremendous blow to our league and community. As costs continue to rise, our ability to run this league becomes more difficult each year. Your sponsorship will not only help the LFA, but our influence spreads all the way to Lumberton High School. It is a pleasure watching kids that come though our system and continue playing through their high school years and in some cases college. So, if you can help with a donation to the association, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for visiting our site and come back again for updates as we get further into 2013!
